Health Sciences A & C-Wing Renovations University of Saskatchewan

ADA was the Prime Consultant and Architect on the Award Winning Health Sciences A & C Wing renovation project. The design team developed a solution to convert the antiquated teaching and research facility with heritage significance into high quality administrative office space with built in flexibility for change. The team collaboratively developed solutions to accommodate a substantial increase in usable space in A-Wing and improve its usability. This is attributed to not accepting the status quo and considering innovative solutions for better space usage, organization, flexibility, quality, and an enriched working environment.

The design was able to incorporate the following design features that enhanced the facility, including:

  • Maximized use of available natural light

  • Living walls

  • Quality refreshment stations with collaboration space and virtual skylights

  • High quality finishes

  • Excellent acoustics and sound privacy

  • Roof garden

  • Exterior landscaped entrance plaza

The ADA team was able to meet all program renewal requirements with a state-of-the-art solution in an existing wing, covered in hazardous materials and surrounded by a fully occupied and operational teaching and research facility.
